Boxer Superstores is a South African based, limited-range discount supermarket trading in the Southern African retail marketplace. 

Established in April 1977, Boxer is headed up by MD Marek Masojada and is a national brand with a portfolio of over 280 stores and counting. Operating across three trading brands in Southern Africa (incl. two trading brands in the Kingdom of eSwatini (Swaziland)), and supplied through and supported by three distribution centres, it is an ‘all-under-one-roof’ discounter trading in the Southern African market.  

Located in urban, peri-urban and rural areas, Boxer’s doors are open to all, with a specific targeting of middle and lower-income shoppers. Boxer caters for the consumer who relies on public transport through to the customer who owns a motor vehicle and drives to the store daily, weekly or monthly. Boxer caters for all shoppers’ needs by providing hot foods along with a butchery, bakery and fruit and veg sections, as well as a Money Kiosk, which serves to assist consumers by offering payments points for airtime, electricity, Lotto, account payments and more. 

Underpinned by the pay-off line ‘Never pay more than the Boxer price,’ the company has a carefully curated range of products from Southern Africa’s best brands on shelf, which make sense for the customers they serve. These brands are complimented by Boxer’s own home-grown confined labels and house brands. 

The brand has been trading for over 42 years and its primary interest when choosing store locale is the availability of high foot traffic – whether directly off the street, close to public transport hubs, as an anchor tenant within a shopping mall or as a standalone development.
